Project Overview

The CCH Users Group is an annual customer conference hosted by CCH Tax and Accounting for professionals using CCH products, including ProSystem fx and Tax Research Manager, which later evolved into IntelliConnect.

The audience included tax attorneys, tax preparers, seasoned accountants, business analysts, and other professionals who depended on CCH tools to keep pace with changing tax law, software enhancements, research capabilities, and broader market developments.

The identity needed to support a serious professional event without feeling cold or academic. It had to communicate learning, connection, product advancement, and customer community while remaining flexible across registration materials, signage, session guides, presentation graphics, badges, banners, and attendee-facing communications.

Conference Context

Users conferences serve a very specific purpose. They are part education, part product training, part customer relationship building, and part market briefing. For CCH, the event brought customers together to understand product updates, explore changing tax requirements, learn from industry experts, and connect directly with the people shaping the tools they used every day.

The identity therefore needed to do more than decorate the event. It had to help organize the experience. Attendees needed to quickly understand where to go, what sessions mattered to them, how the event was structured, and how the conference related back to the larger CCH product ecosystem.

The Mark

The identity was designed to feel professional, clear, and event-ready. It needed to sit comfortably within the CCH brand environment while giving the annual gathering its own recognizable presence.

Because the audience was highly specialized, the visual system avoided gimmicks and instead emphasized clarity, structure, connection, and practical usefulness.

Selected Applications

Individual applications demonstrate how the identity could extend across registration materials, session guides, badges, signage, presentation graphics, and attendee communications.

Design Strategy

The strategy centered on clarity and confidence. This was not a lifestyle event or a consumer promotion. It was a professional learning environment for people responsible for complex tax, accounting, and research work.

The identity needed to feel organized, credible, and approachable while supporting a wide range of conference materials. A successful system would make the event feel cohesive without getting in the way of the information attendees came to receive.

The event brand also needed to support multiple product conversations, including ProSystem fx, Tax Research Manager, and broader CCH software and research offerings. The visual system had to provide a common conference wrapper without overwhelming the product-specific content.

Reflection

The CCH Users Group identity highlights the practical value of event design. In a conference setting, the visual system has to do more than look polished. It helps attendees navigate, learn, prioritize, and feel connected to the larger product community.

This project required restraint. The audience was serious and highly specialized, so the strongest direction was not the loudest one. The identity needed to provide energy and recognition while respecting the professional nature of the subject matter.

Good conference branding supports the experience quietly and consistently. It helps every touchpoint feel connected, from the first registration email to the last session handout.

An effective event identity helps people feel oriented, informed, and part of something larger.
